PROBENT(ACTIVATED BLEACHING EARTHS)
The bleaching process is removing colouring pigments such as chlorophyll and carotene and purifying the fats and oils. The method is by adsorption of color producing substances on an adsorbent material.Bleaching Earth is used as bleaching adsorbents which bleaches oil without altering the chemical properties of the oil.
Probent grades are made from bentonite clay and consist of fine bleaching earth powders and granules with high adsorption capacity. Mined in a sustainable way, our natural products are developed to ensure high levels of performance when used by refineries.
There are many different types of edible oils that need to be treated, and the most appropriate bleaching earth to do the job depends on a number of factors, including; the type of oil, the type of refining utilized, the refining conditions, and the desired quality of the fully refined oil.
PBI produces Acid-Activated Bleaching Earth, to meet the needs of our customers, for today, and for the future.
Since the clays that we utilize for the manufacture of our bleaching earths have never been exposed to sea water, they are naturally very low in chloride and chlorine content. This greatly assists those refiners who wish to produce oils with the lowest possible contents of the harmful compounds known as 3-MCPDs.
